ORIGINAL RULES OF BASKETBALL
AT UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS
UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS
In 2010, the original 1891 Rules of Basketball were gifted to the University of Kansas, returning the sport’s founding document to the Lawrence campus, where its author, Dr. James Naismith, was its first basketball coach. The Rules are housed in the DeBruce Center. The exhibit is the centerpiece of a new multimedia program celebrating KU's basketball, particularly its coaching history.
As Art Director, I led the design of the exterior and the interior of the exhibit. The exterior of the exhibit is metal perforated with the rules of basketball. Inside the bridge, we created a showcase that houses the original rules. The result is a celebration of KU’s deep connection to its basketball fans, alumni, and visitors.
